Steve Howe-Veenstra enters his 23rd season with the Saint Benedict basketball program as an assistant coach in 2023-24.
In his 22 seasons on the staff, CSB has gone 396-175, which includes a 309-132 mark in MIAC play and eight conference championships. In 2022-23, CSB finished 18-9 overall with a 14-8 mark in the MIAC (T-3rd).
Howe-Veenstra’s experience can be traced back over 46 years to St. Cloud Technical High School, where he coached in the boys’ program. Howe-Veenstra was born and raised in St. Cloud, graduating from St. Cloud Technical High School. After graduating from Tech, Howe-Veenstra enrolled at St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1979.
Howe-Veenstra retired from teaching special education following the 2013-14 season after 35 years with the St. Cloud School District. He also taught at the Community is Options 2 program based out of St. Cloud State University.
Howe-Veenstra and his wife, Carol Howe-Veenstra, the former CSB Director of Athletics, have been married for 40+ years. Their son, Ryan, is a 2009 graduate of Saint John’s University.
