Biography
2017: INDOOR ... qualified for the MIAC Championships in the pentathlon, triple jump, 60 hurdles and shot put ... finished 13th in the pentathlon ... recorded career-bests in the 60 hurdles (10.28), high jump (1.34), long jump (4.30), shot put (9.78) and pent (2,469) as a junior ... finished 10th in the pentathlon at the Bison Open ... OUTDOOR ... qualified for the conference meet in the javelin ... recorded a career-best mark and the fifth-best javelin mark in CSB history (35.20) at the Hamline Invite ... finished runner-up in the javelin and the 100 hurdles at the CSB|SJU Outdoor Invite ... finished the year with 10 top-10 finishes.
2016: INDOOR ... qualified for the MIAC Championships in the pentathlon ... recorded a career-best score of 2,268 at the conference championships ... recorded career-bests in the shot put (9.11m), long jump (4.26m), 60 hurdles (10.71) and 55 hurdles (9.79) ... took fourth in the shot put at the Hamster Invite ... OUTDOOR ... qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 100 and 400 hurdles and the heptathlon ... took 11th in the heptathlon ... recorded career-bests in the javelin (32.04m) and hammer (29.75m) ... took second in the javelin at Trinity.
2015: First season ... INDOOR ... competed in three events after finishing the season with the Blazer basketball team ... recorded a career-best mark of 10.13 meters and took second in the triple jump at her first collegiate meet ... qualified for the conference indoor championships in the triple jump ... OUTDOOR ... qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 400 hurdles and heptathlon ... competed in the multi events for CSB and took ninth at the CSB multis and 14th at the MIAC Heptathlon ... took third in the javelin at the Manitou Classic ... recorded the seventh-best javelin throw in school history with a toss of 32.77 meters at the CSB Multi.
High School: A 2014 graduate of Jefferson High School, Betterman was coached by Wendy Kohler. She participated in cross country, basketball and track and field all four years of high school. She earned all-conference and all-conference honorable mention in basketball, and was named her team’s Defensive MVP as a junior and senior. She earned all-conference in cross country for four yearsand in track for three years. She was the section champion in triple jump and 400-meter relay as a senior, and was part of the state champion 400-meter relay team. She qualified for state in five events throughout her high school career.
Personal: Betterman is the daughter of Julie and Chuck Betterman, and she has two brothers, Josh and Lucas. She enjoys running, sports and being outside, and is majoring in biology with a pre-med emphasis.
