2006-2007: Transfer athlete from Iowa State University … has great technique in the freestyle and will reinforce that event as a strength for the Blazers.

2005-2006: Attended Iowa State and was a member of their swimming and diving team … competed at the Big Twelve Conference meet.

High School:  A 2005 graduate of Eden Prairie High School, Matzen was coached by Marcy Wiesner … participated in swimming and diving (four years) and competitive cheerleading (two years) during her athletic career at Eden Prairie … four-time state meet participant … named Most Valuable and Most Inspirational by her swim team senior year … four-time All-Conference in swimming … three-time All-State honoree … section champion in the 100 freestyle her senior year  … captained her swimming and diving team … her team participated in the state meet four years in a row, finishing third her sophomore year.

Personal: Daughter of Deborah Matzen and Richard Matzen… enjoys swimming, boating, camping, snowboarding, animals, traveling and spending time with family… majoring in psychology.

What do you like about being a collegiate student-athlete?
“I enjoy the challenge of competing at the collegiate level. My academics are very important to me, however, swimming has been such a big part of my life that I can’t imagine not doing what I love.”

"Points of Pride" What Have You Accomplished in the Sport of Swimming & Diving?
“Being named most inspirational my senior year as captain as well as breaking the CSB 200 and 800 freestyle relay records.”
