2023-24: Competed in three meets, recording two top-eight finishes … took 6^th place in the 200 Y Breast with a time of 3:00.06 at the SCSU vs SJU-CSB meet … recorded an 8^th place finish in the 100 Y Breast with a time of 1:22.17 at the Carleton vs CSB/SJU meet.

2021-22: Competed in 10 meets as a sophomore ... swam career-best times in the 50 and 100 free and 100 and 200 backstroke races to end the season at the Minnesota Challenge ... recorded nine top-10 finishes, including second in the 200 breaststroke at the Macalester Dual.

2020-21: Competed in two meets as a first year in a COVID-shortened season ... recorded four top-10 finishes.

High School: Mechels is a 2020 graduate of Washburn Senior High School where she competed in softball and swimming for four seasons. Her accomplishments include earning varsity letters in swimming 2016-2019 and in 2019-2020 for softball. She also competed in club swimming. Her proudest moment is qualifying for state in club swimming for eight straight years.
 
Personal: Kate is the daughter of Eric and Naomi Mechels, and she has two siblings Joe and Ben. Kate is majoring in biology.
