2021-22: Qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 200, 500 and 1,650 freestyle races ... finished 14th in the mile, 18th in the 500 and 24th in the 200 ... recorded nine top-five finishes as a senior.
2020-21: Did not compete as a junior.
2019-20: Qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 200, 500 and 1,650 freestyle races ... took 11th in the 1,650 free in a career-best time of 18:42.68 ... also finsihed 15th in the 500 and top 25 in the 200 ... swam a career-best 100 fly time at the St. Kate's Pentathlon ... recorded eight top-three finishes, including wins in the 500 and 1,000 at the Macalester dual.
2018-19: Qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 200, 500 and 1,650 freestyle races ... finished 15th in the 1,650, 20th in the 500 and 26th in the 200 ... competed in five meets as a first year ... recorded a pair of top-three finishes in the 500 and 1,000 free at the Hamline Invite.
High School: Izzy Sonday is a 2018 graduate of Keller High School in Keller, Texas. In high school she participated in varsity swimming for all four years and varsity water polo her sophomore through senior years. She was named rookie of the year (2014), TISCA qualifier (2015, 2016, 2017), Regional Qualifier (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), and head captain (2017, 2018). She was water polo head captain (2017, 2018) and took fifth place at the North Texas Regionals (2017 and 2018). She was also in the Lakeside Aquatic Club where she qualified for sectionals, and Thunder Water Polo National Team where shew as invited to Junior Olympics. The proudest moment of her career was being able to lead her high school team as a head captain to both a district and regional title.
Personal: Izzy is the daughter of Jesse and Meg Sonday. She has three siblings Lily, AJ, and Maya. She enjoys being a collegiate student-athlete because of the environment swimming provides her with. Sonday says it’s always been a very welcoming and fun sport has given her friendships that will last a lifetime. Her hobbies include swimming, water polo, Netflix, and napping. She is an integrative science major with a psychology minor at CSB/SJU.
