Biography
2020-21: Competed in three meets as a senior in a COVID-shortened season ... swam career-best times in the 500 free and 100 back at the St. Kate's Quad to wrap up the season and her career ... recorded three top-five finishes and a handful of top-10 individual finishes.
2019-20: Qualfied for the MIAC Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle ... finished seventh in the 200 free, 12th in the 100 free and top 25 in the 50 free ... recorded career-best times in all three races at the conference meet ... swam the third-best 200 freestyle time in CSB history and moved into seventh in program history in the 100 free at the MIAC meet ... also part of the 800 freestyle relay team that swam the fourth-best time in program history ... also swam career-best times in the 100 fly and 100 IM as a junior ... recorded five top-three finishes, including a win in the 200 free at the Hamline Invite ... earned Academic All-MIAC honors.
2018-19: Qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle races ... finished 16th in both the 100 and 200 and 22nd in the 50 free ... recorded personal-best times in the 50 and 100 freestyle at the conference meet ... also part of the 800 freestyle relay team that swam the fourth-best time in program history ... recorded six top-five finishes as a sophomore ... earned Academic All-MIAC honors.
2017-18: Named the team's Co-Rookie of the Year ... opened her collegiate career with a second-place in the 200 free at the Hamline Invitational ... only missed top-10 finishes in three of her 23 events of the season ... qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 200 and 500 free and 200 backstroke ... finished ninth in the 200 free, 10th in the 200 back and 18th in the 500 free ... swam the fourth-best 200 free and eighth-best 200 backstroke in CSB history.
High School: Mahoney is a 2017 graduate of Prior Lake High School. She participated in swimming for five years, and her honors include Most Improved (2013), all-conference honorable mention (2014-16) and team captain (2016). She also swam for the South Metro Strom Swim Team. The proudest moment of her swimming career has been getting all of her personal best times in the 2018 MIAC meet. .
Personal: Claudia is the daughter of Tim and Dawn Mahoney, and she has several members who have also attended CSB/SJU. She loves traveling, being on the lake, and hanging out with friends. During her time at CSB/SJU she plans to major in psychology and minor in communication. What she looks forward to most about being a collegiate student-athlete is that it allows her to continue to compete in the sport she loves and meet amazing people along the way.
