Dale Sager begins his eighth season as an assistant coach with the College of Saint Benedict hockey team in 2025-26. 

In his five seasons with the team, CSB is 58-65-7 overall with a 39-46-6 mark in the MIAC. He has been part of a program has has five seasons of 10 or more wins and two seasons of 12 or more with a 14-12-0 mark in 2022-23, the most since 14 in 1999-00. The five double digit wins season is half of the 10 collected in history by CSB. In addition, the 11 conference wins in 2022-23 is the most in school history with the 27 MIAC wins over the past three years representing the most in school history.

Prior to stepping in at CSB, Sager served as the head coach of the Elk River girls’ hockey team from 2014-18. In his four seasons at the helm, Elk River made it to the section finals three times, and he finished his tenure with a record of 70-33-8.

For the past 16 seasons, Sager has been involved in girls’ hockey in the area at various levels. He coached in the Reebok High Performance program, and has been an active member of the Minnesota Girls’ Hockey Coaching Association. Sager served as the president of the MGHCA and served on the executive board for 10 years.

Sager is familiar with the MIAC, as he played college hockey at Bethel University. He started his collegiate career at Rainy River Community College in International Falls where was an NJCAA All-American goaltender as a freshman and helped the Voyageurs to a national championship. He played high school hockey at Centennial High School.

Sager has earned his Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University.
