Steve Tax begins his 10th season as an assistant coach with the College of Saint Benedict golf team in 2020-21. Tax joined the program as an assistant in 2011-12.

In his nine seasons with the program, Tax has been a part of eight top-five MIAC finishes, including a pair of runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018, and a third-place finish in his first season with the team in 2011. Tax has also been a part of the team's 18-, 36- and 54-hole team scoring records. Saint Benedict set the school's 18-hole team scoring record with a 305 on Sept. 15, 2019, in the second round of the D3 Classic. The 36-hole record came in 2018 at the D3 Classic, and the 2017 team set the 54-hole record at the MIAC Championships.

Tax also served as the head boys' golf coach at Osakis from 2002-15, and added girls' head coaching duties from 2007-15. He earned his bachelor's degree from Bemidji State in 1991, and a master's from Northern State in 1996. The Pierz, Minn., native is a Differentiation Specialist at Westwood Elementary School in St. Cloud. He lives with his wife, Lisa, and their four children in Sartell.
