ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — After tossing her 12th career shutout, senior
Ellie Peterson of the College of Saint Benedict softball team has been named The House / St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week.
Ellie Peterson
Peterson earned the recognition following a dominant outing on March 25, when she delivered her 12th career shutout in a 9–0, run-rule victory over Bethany Lutheran. In the five-inning performance, she allowed just three hits while striking out five, needing only 57 pitches to control the game from start to finish.
The weekly honor comes on the heels of conference recognition as well. Peterson was recently named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week—her second career MIAC award after first earning the distinction on April 24, 2023. A three-time All-MIAC selection, she continues to anchor the Bennies' pitching staff and has been a key part of the program's success this season.
She is the second Saint Benedict student-athlete to receive MIAC weekly honors this year, joining
Olivia Tautges, who was recognized twice earlier in the season. With Peterson's selection, the Bennies have now totaled three MIAC honors this spring and 49 in program history, including 21 Pitcher of the Week awards.
Peterson's latest performance also adds to an already impressive career resume. She now ranks fifth all-time in program history with 44 career wins and 410 innings pitched, while her 12 shutouts rank fourth. Her 42 complete games place her seventh all-time, and her 68 career starts are tied for the program record alongside Rachel Nelson.
On the season, Peterson is 4–5 with a 3.08 ERA and six complete games across eight starts.
Peterson and the Bennies (10–8) will open MIAC play Wednesday, April 1, when they host Bethel at the CSB Softball Field.
