ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – In a year of outstanding performances by first-year student-athletes across every program,
Ava Mosley of lacrosse and
Lily Treml of softball been selected the College of Saint Benedict Athletics Department "Co-Rookie of the Year" honorees.
Treml and Mosley were selected the "Co-Rookie of the Year" from a talented and high-achieving group of student-athlete nominees. As they transitioned to collegiate life, these first-year standouts stood out with accomplishments and teamwork that contributed to outstanding team success, all-conference honors and special awards, school records, and much more.

Ava Mosley
A first-year global business leadership major from Stillwater, Minn., Mosley helped lead CSB to an 11-6 record, including 7-2 and second place in the WIAC. Mosley, who was named All-WIAC and the WIAC Newcomer of the Year, played in and started all 17 games for the Bennies, totaling a team-best 50 goals and 66 points. She also had 16 assists, accumulated 95 shots, with 77 on-goal and a .521 shot percentage. She had three game-winning goals, 26 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers.

Patrick Crandall noted Mosley's impact in her first year.
"She was eager to learn the system and started to make connections with her teammates right away. As the season progressed Ava started taking a bigger role in the offense," said Crandall," pointing out that Mosley scored 12 goals in the WIAC playoffs, and became the second player in school history with 50 goals in a season (
Sami Hackley, school record, 53, 2024).
Mosley registered her 12
th multi-goal game of the season in a come-from-behind 15-13 win against UW-LaCrosse as CSB won the third-place game in the WIAC Playoffs. Overall, she ranked fourth in the WIAC with 2.94 goals per game (2.90 in WIAC only games). She was seventh in the league in points per game at 3.88.
"She became a player that the opposing teams really had to pay attention to and try to stop. Ava is an amazing player and a very humble person who would give all the credit to her teammates for her success. We are proud to have Ava here and look forward to what she can continue to accomplish in the upcoming years," Crandall said.

A sociology and psychology major from Shakopee, Minn., Treml was named All-MIAC and the MIAC Rookie of the Year in her first season with CSB as the Bennies compiled a 26-14 overall record, including 17-5 and second place in the MIAC.
"Lily was able to consistently put together quality at bats and find ways to get on base to help our offense," said CSB head softball coach
Rachael Click. "Opposing teams started to realize that she was going to be a tough out. She rarely chased pitches out of the zone and took advantage of balls thrown over the plate."
As Click noted, Treml had a major impact in her first year with the program. Treml had a .357 batting average (20
th, MIAC), .997 OPS (11
th, MIAC), 40 hits (20
th, MIAC), 27 runs, 13 extra base hits, including nine doubles (T-13
th, MIAC). She three triples and a home run, as well as 25 RBI (16
th, MIAC). Treml also had a .518 slugging percentage (19
th, MIAC), .479 on-base percentage (5
th, MIAC) and was 3-of-3 on stolen bases.
She set a season school record with 27 walks, a mark which led the MIAC. Treml finished the season with 12 multi-hit games, including twice recording three hits in a game. She also had seven multi-RBI games - twice recording three RBI in a single game.
"Making an impact on our team and in our conference as a first year is not easy," said Click. "We are excited to what the future holds for Lily."
