ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict softball team (19-13, 11-5 MIAC), which has won seven of its last 10 games, has a busy weekend with a pair of doubleheaders which includes celebrating 50 years of program excellence and Senior Day.
CSB will host St. Scholastica (10-22, 6-10 MIAC) at 1 & 3 p.m., on Saturday, April 26, at the CSB Softball Field. Prior to the start of the game, CSB softball will recognize and introduce alumni of the softball program. Then in between games, fans are welcome to attend a 50-year celebration reception for CSB softball at CSB's Outdoor Athletic Complex.
St. Benedict will also host Gustavus Adolphus (18-16, 8-8 MIAC) at 1 & 3 p.m., on Senior Day on Sunday, April 27. St. Ben's will honor seniors
Megan Erickson, a health and exercise science major from Randolph, Minn.; and
Addy Bowne, an environmental studies major from Big Lake, Minn. Erickson has accumulated 110 career hits, a .301 batting average, 39 extra base hits eight home runs and 83 RBI in 126 games, including 117 starts. In her career, Bowne has a 15-5 record in the circle with five complete games and a 3.83 earned run average. She also had a .316 batting average in her career with four home runs and 47 RBI in 106 games.
The Bennies sit in second place in the MIAC at 11-5, a game in front of St. Olaf at 10-6 and two games ahead of Bethel and Macalester at 9-7 in the MIAC. Gustavus sits 8-8 and in sixth place as the conference season winds down with six conference games to play in the regular season.
In its 50th season, St. Ben's has accumulated 837 wins and 520 conference victories since their establishment in 1975. CSB has posted a 19-13 record so far this season, including a 11-5 performance and second place in the MIAC. This past Tuesday, St. Ben's swept Hamline winning games, 8-1 and 10-0.
Ellie Peterson tossed a three-hit complete game with three strikeouts to lead CSB, as the Bennies collected 10 hits. In game two,
Olivia Wallace won her eighth game of the season by tossing a five-inning complete game shutout.
Scouting St. Scholastica
St. Scholastica, which is 10-22 overall and 6-10 in the MIAC, is directed by second-year head coach Kallee Wilkins. The Saints have a team batting average of .251 recording 208 hits, while scoring 86 runs. The Saints' offense is led by first-year Katelyn Hackman, with a .446 batting average. Hackman has recorded 37 hits, eight RBIs and one home run in 83 at bats. In the circle, Sophomore pitcher, Aleah Shogren, has six wins on the season with 34 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.20.
Series Notes vs St. Scholastica
In the all-time series, St. Benedict owns a 6-3 advantage. At home, St. Ben's has a 4-2 record and sit 2-1 in road games with a 5-1 conference mark. In the last meeting on April 27, 2024, the Saints registered an 2-1 win. St. Scholastica won the first match-up in the series, a 6-1 decision on April 5, 1988.
Scouting Gustavus Adolphus
Head coach Ries Welter, who is in her fifth season, leads Gustavus Adolphus, which is 18-16 overall with an 8-8 mark in the MIAC for sixth place. As a team, Gustavus ranks fifth in the MIAC in hitting with a .284 average and has a .368 slugging mark as well as a .355 on-base percentage. In the circle, Gustavus is second in the MIAC with a 2.79 ERA with 147 strikeouts in 228.2 innings. Kayla Herda leads Gustavus with a .360 batting average and a .459 slugging mark. Greta Dahlen is hitting .357 with a .418 slugging mark. Leading the pitchers is Maizie Anderson, who has a 10-7 record and 3.19 ERA, while Ava Hamsund is 7-8 with a 2.05 ERA.
Series Notes vs Gustavus Adolphus
St. Ben's trails Gustavus, 35-44-1, in the all-time series. At home, CSB is 14-24-1 and sits 21-19 in road games with a 32-43-1 conference record. In the last meeting, Gustavus took a 9-7 win in game two of a doubleheader on May 1 in St. Peter, Minn. In the opener, the Bennies took a 2-0 win. In the first matchups, the two teams tied at 7-7 on April 15, 1986.

CSB ranks among the MIAC's best offensively, hitting .318 (2nd), with 16 home runs (3rd), 194 runs (2nd), and 85 extra-base hits (2nd). The Bennies have also stolen 58-of-66 bases (5

- Olivia Tautges, who has a league high five triples, ranks seventh in the MIAC with a .402 batting average; ranks sixth in OPS at 1.094 OPS; fifth in slugging at .645, hits with 43 for third in the MAIC and sits 12th in the MIAC in on-base percentage at .459. Tautges, who has three home runs and 23 RBI in 2025, has 19 career home runs for third all-time at CSB. She ranks eighth all-time at CSB in batting average at .390 with a .703 slugging mark that ranks second all-time (Lexi Alm, .737, 2011-14). In career numbers, Smetana's .375 career batting average and .551 slugging mark sits 11th all-time at CSB. With 26 doubles, she ranks 13th all-time at CSB and has 111 career hits for 17th all-time at CSB.
- Bryn Ruhberg has a .370 average and ranks top-7 in the MIAC in slugging percentage (6th, .644); on-base percentage (6th, .489), and OPS (4th, 1.133) She leads the team in home runs with four and with 27 RBI is second on CSB and 7th in the MIAC.
- Lily Treml, who is ninth in the MIAC in on-base percentage at .459, is hitting .333 with a .953 OPS. She has a MIAC-best 21 walks with 18 RBI.
- Olivia Van Hout is hitting .323 with an .808 OPS and has a team-best 18 stolen bases. Van Hout's 46 career stolen bases rank sixth all-time at CSB.
- Izzy Guttenfelder has jumped her average to .526 on the season after going 7-of-8 in her last three games. The first-year outfielder has a 1.097 OPS with 10 hits in 19 at bats and eight runs scored. She has a .526 slugging mark and .571 on-base percentage.
- In the circle, junior Olivia Wallace, who is 8-4, ranks fourth in the MIAC in ERA at 2.15. Wallace is 13-14 in her career with a 3.06 ERA, 31 starts, 50 appearances, 14 complete games and three shutouts – all in 2025.
