ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Grace Halvorson, who has athletic training experience in both collegiate and professional sports, has today (Wednesday, July 10) been named a licensed athletic trainer for the College of Saint Benedict, according to an announcement by CSB Director of Athletics Kelly Anderson Diercks.
Halvorson, of Ham Lake, Minn., will join the CSB training staff where she will work with student-athletes, and coaches on injury prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation, sports medicine and human performance.
"We are thrilled to welcome Grace to the CSB Athletics family," stated Anderson Diercks. "During the interview process, it quickly became clear that Grace's experience and values were exactly what we were looking for in our new athletic training model."
Earlier this summer, CSB Athletics announced the restructure of the athletic training program which allowed the college to move from two certified athletic trainers to a three-person model. This restructure is an effort to align with current national trends in the field of athletic training and provide the best-possible care for St. Ben's student-athletes.
"I would like to thank Kelly Anderson Diercks as well as the rest of the sports medicine staff at St. Ben's for this opportunity. I am excited to be a Bennie," said Halvorson.
Halvorson's experience includes working with the Minnesota Vikings since May 2023 on organized team activities (OTA's) and off-season workouts. While with the Vikings, she was involved with field set-up and breakdown, operations of the athletic training facility, and with daily rehab program and on-field workouts. Prior to her work with the Vikings, she was with the University of Minnesota Men's hockey team from September of 2023 to February of 2024. At the University of Minnesota, Halvorson assisted the head athletic trainer in providing medical coverage during practices and games.
She also spent October of 2022 to February of 2023 with the Minnesota State – Mankato football team where she provided athletic training coverage during practices and games. Halvorson performed evaluations on injured athletes and developed rehabilitation programs. Additionally, she has experience as a strength and conditioning coach for Andover High School Girl's Hockey and Mounds View High School from June of 2018 until August of 2023.
Halvorson earned her Bachelor of Science in Biokinetics (emphasis in exercise science) at Bethel University in St. Paul. At Bethel, she was member of the hockey and softball teams. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Minnesota State – Mankato. Her certifications include BOC/ATC, CPR/AED, and Mental Health First Aid.
