ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Four members of the No. 25 College of Saint Benedict Softball Team, including
Bryn Carlstrom,
Megan Rasmussen,
Lexi Hanson, and
Tiffany Thompson, were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team Tuesday afternoon (May 16).
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Carlstrom, Rasmussen, Hanson, and Thompson all provided key contributions to the Bennies which had a 26-7 record, finished 16-6 for second in the MIAC, and was nationally ranked from the second week through the entire season. CSB has compiled 26 wins or more for the sixth straight year and 20 wins or more for the past 10 full seasons.
Bryn Carlstrom
Carlstrom, a junior accounting major from Rochester, Minn., recorded a .313 batting average and .758 OPS in 32 games with 31 hits in 99 at-bats. She had a home run, 11 RBI and a .394 slugging. In the field, she had a .994 fielding mark with 27 assists and 139 putouts. In her career, she has a .327 average in 99 games with 99 hits, two home runs, 26 doubles and 60 RBI.
Lexi Hanson
Hanson, a senior infielder and nursing major from Savage, Minn., had nine hits, eight runs, nine RBI and a .250 average in 21 games while registering a .349 OBP. In the field, she had 38 putouts and a .975 fielding mark. Named All-MIAC first team in 2021, Hanson has totaled 60 hits in 87 games with a .294 career average. She has 18 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 33 RBI in her career.
Rasmussen, a junior from Prior Lake, Minn., earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor. She earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors. An infielder, Rasmussen had 17 hits, including a double and triple, plus 10 RBI while hitting .224 and fielding .947 with 16 put outs and 38 assists on defense. A year ago, she was named to the All-MIAC Tournament Team and St. Joseph Minnesota Regional Tournament Team. In her career, she has 67 hits, 12 doubles, six home

Thompson, a junior elementary education major from New York Mills, Minn. She contributed to CSB as a position player and pitcher. Named
Tiffany Thompson
MIAC Player of the Week on March 13, Thompson finished with a .295 batting average with a .772 OPS and 1.000 fielding mark. In 27 games, she had 13 hits in 44 at bats with 16 runs scored, six doubles, 10 RBI, five stolen bases as well as a .432 slugging and .340 OBP. In her career, she played in 66 games with 15 hits and 13 stolen bases while hitting .221.
