ST JOSEPH, Minn. -- After recording three straight wins, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team (7-5-2, 4-3-1 MIAC) is set to face St. Scholastica (1-11-2, 1-3-2 MIAC) in a road MIAC matchup on Wednesday (October 18) at 3:30 p.m., in Duluth, Minn.
Following the mid-week matchup, CSB will host St. Olaf (5-4-4, 3-2-3 MIAC) at the CSB Stadium Turf Field on Saturday (October 21) at 3:30.
CSB, which recorded a 2-1 win over UW-Stout (3-9-2, 0-4 WIAC) on Sunday (Oct. 15) for a third straight win, faces a St. Scholastica team that has a 1-2-1 record in the last four games in the MIAC. The Saints sit 1-11-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the MIAC. CSB is fourth in the MIAC at 4-3-1 and sits 7-5-2 overall. The Bennies have earned 13 points in the standings and sits just two points (15) behind Macalester (8-6, 5-3 MIAC) for third place. When CSB hosts St. Olaf, the Bennies will feature a 4-0-2 home mark and sits 11-0-3 over the past two years.
Facing Region IX
The College of Saint Benedict has played four teams ranked in region IX by the United Soccer Coaches. The Bennies fell to UW- Eau Claire (6th in region), 3-2, and No. 11 UW-Lacrosse (1st in the region), 1-0. CSB lost to St. Catherine's (5th in region), 2-0, while also playing to a 0-0 draw against Simpson (No. 4). The Bennies will play Carleton College (No. 3 in region) to finish the regular season on October 28 at the CSB Turf Athltic Field.
St. Scholastica Notes
St. Scholastica has a 1-7-2 record through the last 10 games as they face CSB on Saturday. Directed by 23rd year head coach Dave Reyelts, St. Scholastica is averaging 0.50 goals and allowing 2.93 goals per game. The Saints are led by Abigail Shrode, who has two goals in 14 games played. Tenley Voth has recorded one goal in 14 games. Junior goalkeeper Gracie Meagher has a 1-7-2 record with 75 saves and a 2.90 GAA.

Voss, who was All-MIAC and All-Region a year ago, leads CSB and ranks eighth overall in the MIAC with five goals on the season. In conference only games, Voss is sixth in the MIAC with four goals. Earlier this year, she had goals in three straight matches and has 20 career goals. Voss leads CSB in scoring with 12 points (15th in the MIAC). She also has a team-high 36 shots.

Abby Willenbring, a third team U.S. Soccer Scholar All-American, All-MIAC and All-Region honoree in 2022, is second on the team in shots with 28 and has goals in three straight games. She now has eight in her career.
Junior
Annie Waters has four shutouts and a 6-3-1 record with 32 saves in 10 games. On Oct. 16, Waters earned her first MIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor after allowing just one goal in two MIAC wins. Waters, who is the first MIAC Athlete of the Week honoree for CSB since
Paige Kahlmeyer on Sept. 12, 2022, ranks fifth in in the MIAC in goals against average (eight goals in 10 games) with a .842 mark in 854:41. With a shutout over Concordia-Moorhead, she registered her fourth shutout, a total that ranks sixth in the MIAC. She also has a .800 save percentage with 32 saves in 10 games. Waters, who has a 6-3-1 record in 2023, owns a 17-7-3 career mark. In her career, she has allowed just 21 goals (0.84 goals against average) with 110 career saves, including 32 this season.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Madisen Carter has one shutout and 14 saves in five games played this season. She totals a 0.778 save percentage and 1.02 goals against average.
As a team, CSB has 19 goals and an average of 1.36 goals per game. The Bennies have recorded 219 shots (15.60 per game) and ranks fourth in league play for shots on goal with 117. In corner kicks, the Bennies hold a 61-to-44 edge over opponents.

Steve Kimble, who is in his 15th season, has directed his teams to the top four in the MIAC five times, including a second place finish in 2022 when CSB was 12-5-2 with an 8-2-1 record in league play. Overall, Kimble has a 147-81-29 record at Saint Benedict with a 93-45-14 mark in conference play. CSB has recorded winning seasons in 12 of his 14 years with the program and has finished the year with a winning record 32 of the past 34 years. Kimble has coached three All-Americans, two MIAC Players of the Year, one MIAC Rookie of the Year, 20 All-Region athletes, 34 All-MIAC athletes and 19 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections.
