08/02/2022

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict has announced the hiring of Jerron Granberry as the new Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant to the Athletic Director. The position is largely made possible through the two-year NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's grant program. Saint Ben's was one of only 18 institutions and conference offices nationally selected to receive the grant.

"Jerron brings the experience and certifications in strength and conditioning that will allow him to excel in his new role at Saint Ben's," said Athletic Director Kelly Anderson Diercks. "Jerron's passion and energy will be a huge asset to our staff and student-athletes."

Granberry is currently the Director of Sports Performance at Redline Athletics in Coppell, Texas. Prior to that he was the Head Strength Coach for the University of Wyoming basketball and coed spirit teams. Additionally, he has done internships with the Dallas Mavericks and Dever Nuggets strength and conditioning programs. Granberry has his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification, his USA-Weightlifting 1 certification and is CPR/AED certified.

"I am excited for the opportunity that God and Athletic Director Kelly Anderson Diercks has provided to me. I am looking forward to working with the prestigious coaches here at CSB and creating a culture that thrives on competing, an insatiable appetite to get better, and a championship mindset!" Granberry said.

Granberry earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida where he was a 1,000-point scorer for the men's basketball program. He was a graduate transfer to the University of Wyoming where he played his final year of eligibility for head coach Larry Shyiatt. Granberry went on to be a Graduate Assistant and later Assistant Director of Player Development for the Cowboys men's basketball program.

This is the second NCAA Ethnic minority and women's internship grant awarded to the College of Saint Benedict. CSB first received the Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship grant in the 2005-07 cycle, when the Bennies hired Elise Cooper as Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Volleyball Coach. Saint Ben's joins Carleton College and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Minnesota grant recipients in this cycle.
