On Oct. 22, the College of Saint Benedict will celebrate 50 years of Title IX by honoring 50 of our greatest and most influential student-athletes in a ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Benedicta Arts Center (BAC) on campus. The event is free and open to the public. Please join us!
The week leading up to the event, we will spotlight one of the all-decade teams each day -- the 1970's on Monday, the 1980's on Tuesday, the 1990's on Wednesday, the 2000's on Thursday, and the 2010's on Friday.
SAINT JOSEPH, Minn. -- The 2010's continued to build on the Saint Ben's athletic success of the previous decade and saw the athletic identity evolve from the Blazers into the Bennies. The 2010's all-decade team consists of 11 student-athletes who earned a collective 19 All-American honors, two MIAC Player of the Year honors, and 15 MIAC Individual Championships. Please join us in congratulating the following individuals.
Beth Hanson (Volleyball/Softball '10) – Beth Hanson captained the Blazer volleyball team as one of the top setters in school history. She earned third team All-American and all-region honors in 2009 as she led her team to the MIAC regular season title her senior season. Hanson was a three-time All-MIAC First Team honoree, a four-time MIAC Setter of the Week and a three-time team MVP. She holds the CSB school record for assists in a career and a season and is also ninth in CSB history in total digs. Hanson earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and was a five-time Academic All-MIAC selection. Hanson also played softball for four seasons for the Blazers.
Emma Jaynes Keeler (Volleyball ' 10) – Emma Jaynes Keeler was one of the top six rotation outsides in school history. She earned second team All-American honors in addition to being a two-time honorable mention All-American. Jaynes was a three-time all-region selection, a three-time All-MIAC selection, and a MIAC athlete of the week. She earned team MVP honors and remains third on the all-time kills list and fourth on the all-time digs list. Jaynes was a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree, was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and was selected for the NCAA Postgraduate scholarship.
Kathryn Hauff Dehn (Golf '12) – Kathryn Hauff Dehn solidified herself as one of the best golfers in school history. She was a two-time national qualifier, and is the only golf student-athlete in school history to be a two-time All-American. Hauff was a three-time All-MIAC honoree, a five-time MIAC athlete of the week, and was named MIAC golf senior of the year. She was a four-time team MVP, earned WGCA all-region honors and holds two individual school records. She was a three-time Academic All-MIAC selection, was twice named a WGCA scholar and earned the prestigious NCAA Elite 88 Award.
Julia Renner (Track & Field '12) – Julia Renner was an incredibly versatile athlete for the Blazer track and field team. She was a three-time national qualifier and five-time MIAC Champion. Renner earned sixteen All-MIAC honors and five All-MIAC honorable mention honors. She was a two-time MIAC Athlete of the Week and a two-time team field MVP. Renner holds three CSB records and is in top ten in five outdoor events and six indoor events. She is a five-time Academic All-MIAC honoree and a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
Lexi Alm Johnson (Softball/Volleyball '14) – Lexi Alm Johnson was a standout two-sport athlete for Saint Ben's. Alm became the first All-American is CSB softball history and was a two-time honorable mention All-American in volleyball. She was a two-time all-region selection in both sports, earned a combined five All-MIAC honors, three MIAC Player of the Week honors and was named the conference player of the year in softball. Alm holds multiple school records in softball and ranks in the top six in kills in volleyball history. She was selected as team MVP in both softball and volleyball, was a CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team selection and was named a NFCA Scholar-Athlete.
Colleen Bouchard Rumpza (Soccer '14) – Colleen Bouchard earned First Team All-American honors for the Bennie soccer team as she guided CSB to two MIAC regular season titles and two NCAA appearances. She was a three-time all-region, and four-time all-MIAC selection and was named MIAC Player of the Year in 2011. Bouchard was a two-time MIAC athlete of the week, a three-time team MVP and she remains the school record holder in career assists. In the classroom, Bouchard was three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction and was an NCAA Woman of the Year top 30 selection.
Taya Kockelman Lindahl (Volleyball '15) – Taya Kockelman Lindahl was another one of the phenomenal St. Ben's setters. She earned second team, third team and honorable mention All-American honors during her career. She was a three-time all-region, three-time All-MIAC, and five-time MIAC player of the week honoree. Kockelman led the Blazers to four NCAA tournaments and was a three-time team MVP. She is third is CSB history in career assists and second in single season assists. Kockelman finished top five in the country in three of her four seasons in assists per set.
Lexi Rinde (Volleyball '15) – Lexi Rinde was an offensive force for Bennie volleyball hitting from the right side. She was a two-time All-American Honorable Mention selection and a part of four NCAA Tournament teams. She is a four-time All-MIAC honoree and two-time All-Region selection. Rinde was twice named MIAC player of the week and was a four-time team offensive MVP selection. She currently ranks fifth in CSB school history in kills and is a three-time Academic All-MIAC selection.
Allison Kosobud (Cross Country/Track & Field '17) – Allison Kosobud was a dual sport power in cross country and track and field for the Bennies. On the track she was a five-time national qualifier and one-time All-American. She was a three-time all-region performer, five-time MIAC Champion, ten-time All-MIAC honoree, a 13-time All-MIAC Honorable Mention selection and a three-time MIAC Athlete of the Week. Kosobud is top 10 in CSB history in three outdoor events, five indoor events, and holds six school records. In cross country, Kosobud was an all-region performer, an All-MIAC performer, a team MVP and is in the top seven in school history in the 5K and 6K. She was a CoSIDA academic All-American third team selection and combined to be a five-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. Kosobud was the CSB Presidential Award winner and a NCAA Woman of the Year top 30 finalist.
London Stelten DeBenedetto (Track & Field '17) – London Stelten DeBenedetto is one of the best pole-vaulters in school history. She was a two-time national qualifier and two-time All-American finishing in the top-four on both trips to the national championships. She was a four-time all-region selection and a five-time MIAC Champion. Stelten earned six All-MIAC honors and four MIAC Athlete of the Week honors. She was a three-time team field MVP and set MIAC indoor and outdoor records, while holding CSB indoor and outdoor pole vault records. Stelten was a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and a six-time Academic All-MIAC selection.
Jenna Degen (Track & Field '19) – Jenna Degen shined for the Bennie track and field team in the late 2010's. She was a four-time national qualifier and two-time All-American, finishing fourth in the pentathlon and third in the heptathlon in 2017. She was a five-time all-region honoree, and a conference champion in 2017 in the pentathlon; while earning six All-MIAC honors and seven All-MIAC honorable mention honors. She was named the 2016-17 CSB Athlete of the Year, and currently holds two school records and seven other top-10 marks in program history. Degen was a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and twice earned Academic All-MIAC recognition.
