About the Pipers
The Pipers are 7-5 overall, 6-2 in conference play so far this season. The last series they played was against Saint Mary's last weekend, where they split the series 1-1. Friday night SMU scored three unanswered goals in the third period to beat Hamline 3-2. On Saturday, the Pipers took the 4-1 victory in Winona. Sophie Rausch leads the team in points with 16 on 10 goals and six assists. Goalie McKenna Hulslander has 175 saves and a 1.68 goals-against average.
Last Meeting
The last time the Bennies and the Pipers met was almost exactly a year ago on Jan. 30, 2021, in Saint Paul. The Pipers would hand CSB a 3-1 loss that afternoon. Goalie
Ally Frantzick stopped a career-best 46 of 49 shots on net in the loss.
The Storyline
The Bennies (5-7 overall, 2-4 MIAC) have just been hoping that they can get to a weekend where they can play two games of hockey. A canceled series against Hamline two weeks prior and one canceled game against St. Scholastica last weekend has not helped the trend. They were able to travel to Duluth for their second game against the Saints on Saturday, Jan. 22, which would result in a 3-1 loss.
Who to Watch
Sophomore Isabelle Heim scored the Bennies' lone goal in their loss against St. Scholastica last Saturday. First year Ava Stinnett continues to lead the team with nine points on three goals and six assists. Goalie
Maggie Gilchrist is seventh in the MIAC with a goals-against average of 2.35. Gilchrist also boasts a .904 save percentage with 132 saves and a 3-3 record.
