ABOUT THE PIPERS
Hamline heads into Saturday's MIAC opener 0-2 after losses to Northwestern and Saint Mary's to start the season. The Pipers are a young team with no seniors and just five juniors on their roster. Jaiden Kline leads the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game, and Tess Hauer is averaging 8.5 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game.
LAST MEETING
CSB and Hamline split a pair of MIAC games last season, with each team winning on the road. CSB won 66-52 in early December in St. Paul after committing just 12 turnovers as a team. Hamline came back and beat the Bennies 42-39 after blocking a last-second three-point attempt from
Maddie Schmitz. Schmitz had seven rebounds in the tight loss and CSB held the Pipers to a 31.9 percent shooting percentage from the field.
THE STORYLINE
The Bennies got a lot of points from several players Wednesday against the Cobbers. Schmitz,
Tori Szathmary,
Carla Meyer and
Madison Doran all scored double-digit points in the team's season-opener. CSB looks to keep that energy and momentum Saturday against the Pipers.
WHO TO WATCH
Schmitz started her senior season with a career night, pulling down a career-best 18 rebounds and tying her career-high with 25 points.
Tori Szathmary had a career-high 15 points, and
Carla Meyer made her collegiate debut with 12 points and four assists for Saint Benedict. Seven different players scored for the Bennies, who shot 44 percent from the field.
The CSB competition dance team will debut its new performance at halftime of the varsity game, so stay close to your device and be sure and watch via the livestream.
