CSB returns home to take on Bethel

Live Stats/Video | Game Notes

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After playing four games in eight days last week, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team took a breather for a few days, and is ready to get back at it Wednesday with a home game against Bethel.

Puck drop for the MIAC contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the MAC in St. Cloud. Per MIAC policy no fans are allowed, but live stats and video are available here.

Wednesday's game starts another busy stretch for the Bennies as the team hits the road Saturday to take on Augsburg before coming back home Sunday for a makeup game with Concordia.

ABOUT THE ROYALS
After two wins - including a 4-2 road win at Gustavus - early in the season, Bethel had to take two weeks off due to COVID protocols, and returned to action Feb. 20 with a loss at St. Thomas. Lexi DeBace leads the team with a trio of points, and Baleigh Shuck has seen the majority of the time in net for the Royals.

LAST MEETING
Bethel swept Saint Benedict in 2019-20, winning a tight game 2-1 in St. Cloud, then winning via shutout 3-0 the next day in St. Paul. Mollie Wise scored the team's lone goal of the series in the third period of Friday's game in St. Cloud. Maggie Gilchrist stopped 22 shots in the Friday game and Ally Frantzick tallied 30 saves Saturday.

THE STORYLINE
After a tough week on the road last week, CSB hopes that playing at home twice this week helps the team get in the win column for the first time in 2021. The Bennies took on some high-powered offensive teams in St. Thomas and Gustavus, and look to get their own offense going this week with a pair of home games.

WHO TO WATCH:
A pair of underclass skaters lead CSB's offense so far this season. First year Brynn Sexauer and sophomore Rachel DeCesare each have three points to their name - both on two goals and an assist. Sophomore goalie Ally Frantzick reached 40-plus saves for the second time in 2021 Sunday when she recorded 41 saves against the Gusties. She leads the league with 117 saves.
