Amundson wins CSB’s 2018-19 Presidential Award

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – As the 2018-19 school year winds down, the College of Saint Benedict athletic department handed out several of its yearly awards Sunday night at the department's annual athletics awards ceremony in Upper Gorecki.
 
Senior Natalie Amundson took home the department's Presidential Award, senior Claire Boatman was named the Margy Hughes Inspirational Award winner and junior Nicole Newman was named the department's Scholar Athlete for the 2018-19 school year.

Amundson takes home one of the department's top awards after an exceptional four-year career at CSB. Amundson, a nursing major and four-year member of the golf team, graduates Saturday with a 3.87 GPA. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and was named to the Dean's List each semester. On campus, Amundson was involved with campus ministry, Benedictine Friends, a nursing department tutor and a nursing department TA. She also served as a volunteer golf coach for Special Olympics, and has been involved in the Diabetes Prevention Program.
 
On the golf course, Amundson is a four-time All-MIAC honoree after finishing in the top 10 at the MIAC Championships each of her four seasons. She is also a two-time WGCA All-Region honoree, and graduates with the school record for scoring average in a career with an impressive 79.6.
 
Boatman – a senior on the CSB softball team and a four-year athletic department employee – was named the Margy Hughes Inspirational Award winner for her support of all things CSB athletics throughout her college career and her dedication to the department. She helped with set up and tear down at home events, helped line up student employees to work events and was an all-around CSB athletics super fan. She was also a vocal leader and a leader at the plate and in the field for the softball program.
 
Newman finished her junior year with the top cumulative GPA of all CSB junior and senior student-athletes. Newman – who is currently studying abroad in South Africa – is a biochemistry and political science double major with a 3.994 GPA.
