ST. PETER, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team wrapped up the 2017-18 season with a 7-1 loss at Gustavus Saturday afternoon in St. Peter.
The Gusties – who are 19-2-4 overall, 13-2-3 in the MIAC and currently ranked sixth in Division III – scored four first-period goals and added three more in the second before Saint Benedict scored in the third and final period.
Gustavus scored a pair of goals within 40 seconds of one another in the ninth minute of the first to go up 2-0, and added goals in the 12
th and 19
th minutes of the first to take a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. The Gusties scored in the fourth, sixth and 13
th minutes of the second period, but were held scoreless in the third period.
Courtney Conlin scored for CSB in the 13
th minute of the third period on the power play. Her sixth goal of the season came off assists from
Brigette Miller and
Mollie Wise. The assist marked the 10
th of the season for Miller.
Kailee Medved made 21 saves in 24 minutes in net for CSB, and
Julia Carle played the final 35 minutes and made 24 saves. Gustavus had 52 shots on net to Saint Benedict's 17. Miller had four shots on net and
Riley Schneider led the team with five.
CSB wraps up the year 2-21-1 overall and 1-16-1 in the MIAC. The team loses six seniors to graduation.
