ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Mikayla Von Wahlde continued her solid first season with the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team Saturday, winning two events to lead the team in a dual with St. Kate's.
Von Wahlde's two wins were the lone two victories for Saint Benedict, which fell 202-97 to the Wildcats in the MIAC dual meet in St. Paul. Von Wahlde won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.43, and was the top finisher in the 200 backstroke by more than three seconds, winning the race in 2:14.19. Teammate
Lauren Christiansen took second in 2:17.68. Von Wahlde was also part of the team's second-place 400 medley relay team. She teamed up with
Ashley Groebner,
Ana Birklid and
Claudia Mahoney to finish in 4:15.53. She also teamed up with Birklid,
Zoe Allyson and Mahoney to take third in the 400 free relay in 3:50.79.
Kylie Eggers took second in both the diving competitions Saturday, and just missed personal bests in both events. She took second on the one-meter board with a mark of 207.55, and on the three-meter board with a score of 190.45.
Lisa Pahr finished third on the one-meter board with a mark of 192.05.
Groebner, a senior, also had three top-three individual finishes. She took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.95, and third in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.04) and the 200 IM (2:24.70). Birklid took second in the 100 free in 56.32, and third in both the 200 and 500 freestyle races individually. She finished the 200 free in 2:03.26 and the 500 free in 5:38.15.
Allie Crum took second in the 1,000 free in 11:32.66 and
Morgan Gerhardt finished third in 11:33.27.
Madi Davis finished second in the 200 fly in 2:33.27, and Allyson finished third in the 50 free in 26.27 seconds.
Saturday's meet marked the final of 2018 for Saint Benedict. The team heads to Coral Springs, Fla., Jan. 2-10 for its annual training trip, and returns to action against Hamline Friday, Jan. 11, in St. Paul.
