CSB basketball travels to Nashville

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team kicks off the second half of the season this weekend for when they travel to play in the Nashville Tournament. CSB plays Saturday, Dec. 29, against Husson University at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 30, against St. Norbert College at 11 a.m. in Nashville, Tenn. 
 
About the Eagles
Husson last played on Dec. 14, when they beat UMaine-Fort Kent 60-48. The eagles are 4-4 overall and 3-2 while away or at neutral cites. Kenzie Worcester leads the team with 22.1 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. Sami Ireland leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game and is second with 11.6 points per game. 
 
About the Green Knights
St. Norbert last played on Dec. 20, when they lost to Carroll University 66-59. The green nights  are 2-7 overall and are 0-4 on the road. Macie Zurfluh leads the team with 12.3 points per game and 3.8 assists per game. Sarah Ratajczyk leads the team with nine rebounds per game and score nine points per game. 
 
The Storyline
CSB went 3-6 in the first half of the season and 1-2 while on the road. In their last time out on Dec. 12, CSB was defeated 77-51 by Saint Mary's. Saint Benedict looks to get back on track with a two tournament wins, and head into the second half with some momentum before getting back to conference play. Saint Benedict returns home again until Jan. 2 when it hosts Augsburg to kick off 2019.
 
Who To Watch
Megan Thompson currently leads the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game, and Maddie Schmitz (12.0) and McKenzie Holgate (8.7) are key on the offensive end. Alex Johnson leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game followed by Schmitz with 6.1 per game. Sidney Schiffler is shooting .400 from three and leads the team with 27 assists.
