ST.JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict basketball team is back on the uphill climb, taking two victories from Hamline and Bethel last week. As the team once again gains momentum, it looks to push its current winning streak to three games against the Concordia Cobbers on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in Claire Lynch Hall.

About Concordia
The Cobbers have 7-12 overall and 4-8 conference records. Playing with a home court advantage, the Cobbers defeated Macalester 58-46 last Saturday. Last season, they ended 8-17 overall, and 5-13 in MIAC play. They were defeated by Saint Benedict last January. Grace Wolhowe, a junior guard, is the team leader in points with 196 and averages 10.3 points per game. Also, Kirstin Simmons (157 points) and Jamie Mentzer (9.8 points per game average) will be looking to put up points for the Cobbers.

Last Game
Saint Benedict rang in the new year right with a 66-47 victory in Moorhead on Jan. 3. The Cobbers led at the end of the first quarter, but CSB came back to outscore Concordia 15-3 in the second. CSB held onto its lead for the remainder of the game. Saint Benedict senior

Who to Watch
Niki Fokken and
Chelsey Guetter, both seniors, continue to lead in points and average points per game: Fokken with 238 points, 13.2 average; and Guetter with 195 points, 10.3 average. Surpassing two teammates in the past two games,
Sidney Schiffler has 121 points and a 7.6 points-per-game average. Guetter also leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Storyline
Saint Benedict, which is 17-2 overall, took a 83-76 comeback win from Bethel last Saturday. Falling behind in the first half, CSB came back with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Royals 32-18 to come out on top. CSB is currently ranked second in the MIAC with an 11-1 conference record, and moved up to second in the "Others Receiving Votes" section of the latest d3hoops.com poll with 29 points. CSB travels to Northfield on Saturday to face St. Olaf (3-16 overall, 1-11 conference) at 3 p.m.
