Live Stats/Video

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict softball team continues its busy week Thursday, April 14, when it travels to Minneapolis for a MIAC doubleheader against Augsburg. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

About the Auggies: Augsburg, like CSB, heads into Thursday's game coming off a doubleheader Wednesday night. The Auggies split with Gustavus and are now 15-11 overall and 4-4 in the MIAC. Brianna Cline is fifth in the league with a .446 batting average and third with 24 RBIs. Samantha Anderson is fourth in the MIAC with 97 strikeouts and fifth with eight wins on the mound. Augsburg has won three of its last four games.

Last Year: CSB swept the Auggies on April 18, 2015, in a doubleheader in St. Joseph. The Blazers won the first game 8-2 and picked up a 6-0 shutout in the second game. Cassie Meyer picked up the win on the mound in the first game and Becky Gigstad had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs in game two to pace CSB.

The Storyline: The Blazers picked up their first MIAC sweep of the year Wednesday against Concordia, and CSB looks to keep that momentum going Thursday. Saint Benedict is also trying to stay hot this week as, after Thursday, it plays again both Saturday and Sunday. Augsburg is also looking to stay hot after shutting out Gustavus 3-0 Wednesday night in St. Peter.

Who to Watch: First year Kate Deming took over as the team's hit leader Wednesday night and she is also second in the MIAC. Three Blazers are in the top six in the MIAC in total hits: Deming, Megan Toninato and Sara Wennerstrand. Kiela DeVlaeminck and Meyer both had solid outings on the mound against the Cobbers, and Emilie Antony and Karlee Pfaff each had a pair of hits.

Last Time Out: CSB beat the Cobbers 4-1 and 8-4 Wednesday in St. Joseph. Deming went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game and Nicole Nelson hit a solo homer. Meyer struck out six and threw the complete game to pick up the win. Antony doubled in the first game and DeVlaeminck struck out nine batters to help the Blazers to a 4-1 win in the first game.
