ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After playing 17 innings Sunday afternoon, the College of Saint Benedict softball team continues its busy week Wednesday, April 13, when it hosts Concordia College in MIAC doubleheader.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be played April 2 but was postponed to April 12 due to cold weather, then was pushed back again after cold temps and snow on Tuesday, starts at 3:30 p.m. on the CSB softball field.
About the Cobbers: Concordia is 14-6 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC and is coming off a split with Macalester Sunday. This is already the best season for Concordia since 2009 when the Cobbers went 14-22. Kali Covert leads Concordia at the plate with a .409 batting average, and Abby Haraldson leads the MIAC with 108 strikeouts and is tied for second with nine wins on the mound.
Last Year: CSB and the Cobbers split a doubleheader last season in St. Joseph. Concordia won the first game 4-3, but CSB came back to win the second game 9-4.
Megan Toninato had four RBIs and
Sara Wennerstrand added three more for CSB in the win.
The Storyline: After two losses to Gustavus - including a 10-inning loss in the second game - CSB looks to bounce back Tuesday against Concordia. With a busy stretch of MIAC games coming up - CSB plays
Thursday, Saturday and Sunday - CSB is looking to build some momentum to try and make its way up the conference standings. The Blazers are also looking to defend their home turf. They are 1-3 at home so far this season.

Emilie Antony and
Madison Mikolich have had some timely hits for CSB as well.
Last Time Out: CSB dropped a doubleheader to Gustavus Sunday afternoon. The Gusties won 5-1 in the first game, and 10-8 in 10 innings in the second game thanks to a three-run homer in the 10th.
Kate Deming had
three hits in game two and
Emilie Antony had two.
Claire Haddick threw 8.2 innings in the two games combined and struck out 11 batters.
