Â
About the Auggies:After being picked to finish sixth in the MIAC, the Auggies have impressed this season. Their nine conference wins and 12 wins overall are both Augsburg school records. They are led by Allen and the MIAC's best defense, which has a team goals against average of 1.55 in conference games this year. Key to a Blazer victory will be to get on the board early and make the Augsburg defense in an unfamiliar position.
Â
Storyline:While the Blazers have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, the Auggies' playoff destiny is up in the air still. With two wins and some luck, they could win the conference championship. With two losses and Gustavus wins, they could miss the playoffs entirely. After a season in which they upset multiple ranked opponents, a strong showing against Augsburg could be the perfect end to a roller coaster season for the Blazers.
Â
Last Year:The Blazers and Auggies split the series last year, with each team winning their road game. On Friday, the Blazers used third period goals from Berg-Moberg and senior forward
Aly Hoffman to score a 3-2 come-from-behind victory. Senior forward
Liz Hermes had two assists in that game. On Saturday the Auggies beat the Blazers 5-2.
Stephanie Kirk had a goal and an assist in that game.
