ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team takes a break from MIAC action this week for a trio of nonconference games in Wisconsin. The first of those games is Monday, Dec. 5, when CSB travels to Eau Claire, Wis., to take on UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
About the Blugolds
Eau Claire is 6-4 overall heading into Monday's nonconference matchup. The last time UWEC played, it lost 3-2 to Gustavus on Nov. 29. Prior to that, the Blugolds had won two straight against Saint Mary's and UW-River Falls. Courtney Wittig leads the team with nine goals and nine points, and Jaedyn Walz also has nine points on five goals and four assists. Elizabeth Bauer leads UWEC with six assists.
Last Meeting
This marks the first meeting between Eau Claire and Saint Benedict since at least the 2004-05 season.
Who to Watch
Allison Kirk,
Shelby Schneider and
Stephanie Kirk all scored for CSB in its MIAC series against Gustavus this past weekend. First year
Courtney Conlin had a pair of assists in CSB's 3-2 loss Saturday, the first and second of her college career. Sophomore goalie
Julia Carle had a career night Friday in the team's 3-1 loss with 50 saves. She leads the team with 155 saves in six games played.
The Storyline
After winning two games to start the season and scoring 22 goals in its first four games, CSB's offense has slowed down. The team, which is on a five-game losing streak since Nov. 11, looks to snap out of that slump tonight against the Blugolds. A win tonight would be a good momentum boost for the team as it heads into a nonconference series at Concordia-Wisconsin this weekend, and it would also be a boost heading into the holiday break. Senior
Elli Marvin is still tied for fourth in all of Division III with 1.00 goals per game.
