ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a tough 74-64 loss to Buena Vista University Sunday, the College of Saint Benedict basketball team is 7-4 this season and sits with a 2-2 MIAC record. With hopes of jumping above .500 in conference play, the Blazers face off against Macalester College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Claire Lynch Hall.

Wednesday's game is big for CSB because it kicks off the bulk of the Blazers' MIAC schedule and the second half of the season. Saint Benedict is also on the brink of history, as it has 499 MIAC wins since joining the league in 1985. A win over the Scots would make the Blazers the third women's basketball team in the league to hit the 500-win milestone.

About the Scots: The Scots started their season with a record of 5-2 including a close 59-57 loss to the University of Northwestern, and a 71-70 overtime win in their first conference game against Hamline. From here, the Scots have lost their last three consecutive games leaving them with a conference record of 1-3. After facing the Blazers, the Scots will move on to play three consecutive conference games.

Last Year: Last season, the Blazers took a big win over the Scots on the road. After talking a slight 32-30 lead in the first half, the Blazers came back strong and extended their lead in the second half to finish with a 73-65 win. Kate Banovetz finished the night with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

The Storyline: The Blazers will be starting the first game of their upcoming 13-game streak of conference play with their matchup against the Blazers. With an even record of 2-2 in conference play, the Blazers will be looking to start this streak out with a win to build their momentum as they head into their conference season. Macalester will also be heading into this matchup with hopes of breaking their three-game losing streak and improving their 1-3 conference record.

Who to Watch: Annie Dittberner currently leads the Blazers' offense with 9.4 points per game as Grace Wolhowe sits with 9.3. Niki Fokken currently sits with a season total of 78 rebounds, 9.1 points per game and leads the team with 1.4 blocks per game.  Wolhowe leads the MIAC with a .489 three-point percentage and is 10th in the league with a .486 field-goal percentage.

Last Time Out: In their game, the Blazers fell by a score of 74-64 to Buena Vista University. After taking a big 24-15 lead in the first quarter, the Blazers went on to finish the first half with a 45-39 lead.
