About the Gusties
After graduating an All-American and multiple All-MIAC honorees, the Gusties were picked to finish second in the MIAC this season. Although they have only a .500 record, the Gusties losses have come at the hands of MIAC first-place team St. Thomas, as well as No. 1 Plattsburgh State and No. 2 Elmira College. They come into this game riding a two-game losing streak.
Â
The Storyline:
Two years ago, the Blazers swept the Gusties 4-2, 4-2 in a home-home series. That was the first time the Blazers had defeated a nationally ranked team. Last year, the Gusties swept the Blazers, holding them scoreless in each game. With the score even, the stage is set for a great matchup. After being swept by Hamline last week, the Blazers could use a big win against Gustavus to bounce back.
Â
Last Time:
Last year, the Blazers played a home-and-home series against the Gusties in late January. In the first game at Gustavus, the Gusties scored two power play goals en route to a 3-0 victory. On Saturday in St. Cloud, the Gusties scored two more power play goals en route to a 2-0 victory over the Blazers.
