About the Pipers
After finishing 9th in the MIAC last season with a 6-17-2 (4-12-2 MIAC) record last season, the Pipers have a new face behind their bench this season. The new head honcho is Natalie Darwitz. Yes you read that right. The Pipers are now coached by the former Gopher and three-time Olympian. Darwitz waited five games to secure her first NCAA coaching victory, but the Pipers are 1-0-1 in the MIAC and looking to turn their fortunes around with a coach who has succeeded at every level of hockey.
Â
The Storyline:
After disappointing seasons last year, both Saint Ben's and Hamline are looking to move up the standings in 2015-16. The Blazers, who finished ahead of Hamline at eighth last year, will be looking to use this game to establish their first MIAC victory and build some momentum heading into next week's matchup against Gustavus. Key to victory will be to get an early lead against a Hamline defense which is giving up 3.6 goals per game.

Last Year:
In 2014-15, the Pipers and Blazers split their season series. In the Friday night game, the Blazers win an overtime thriller in front of a home crowd in St. Cloud. Miller scored the game-winner off assists from Marvin and Katie Cristan. The Pipers came back to win the Saturday afternoon game 0-4. Allison Kirk had the other two goals in Blazers' victory.
