A three-goal outburst by the Oles in the first was too much for the hockey team to overcome at St. Olaf.

Northfield, Minn. – For the second time in three games this season, the Saint Benedict hockey team was on the board first, but, host St. Oalf came back with four straight on its way to a 6-2 win on Saturday (Nov. 16.)

The Oles (2-2-0, 2-0-0 MIAC) scored three unanswered to close the first, including a pair of goals in the final 90 seconds of the period to blow open the game. Instead of heading into the locker room tied at the first intermission, the Blazers instead found themselves trailing 3-1

The one the Blazers (0-3-0, 0-2-0 MIAC) got came off the stick of Siri Berg-Moberg (St. Paul, Minn.), just two minutes into the game. It was her first of the year, and gave the Blazers a quick 1-0 advantage. The Oles evened it, though, just three minutes later before the two late goals in the first.

In the second, the Oles started the scoring with their fourth straight goal, taking a 4-1 lead.

The Blazers' Megan Lawry (Circle Pines, Minn.) brought her team back within two, with her first goal of the season at the 10:55 mark, making in 4-2.

The second period featured just the two lone goals, and in the third, the Blazers turned on the pressure looking for their third. They outshot the Oles 14-to-8 in the period, their highest total of the night.

It was to no avail, though, and to put the final nail in the coffin, the Oles tacked on two more late goals, scoring twice in the final two minutes of the game for the final margin of victory. Outside of less than four combined minutes at the ends of the first and third periods, the Blazers skated 2-2 with the Oles.

The two teams tied in shots at the end of the game at 31-31, with CSB tallying 75 total on the weekend.

St. Ben's will now return home next weekend, when they host Saint Mary's on Nov. 22 and 23.
