Blazer Ice Hockey Falls 3-1 at Hamline

BOX SCORE

The College of Saint Benedict ice hockey team, playing on the road at Hamline University, lost tonight's contest 3-1 to split the two-game series with the Pipers.

Winning the previous night for their first home victory in the 2010-2011 season, the Blazers were looking to extend their winning streak to two games. After a scoreless first, both teams scored in the second period before the Pipers used a two goal third period to secure the 3-1 victory over Saint Benedict.

Sophomore defender Catherine Pollock (Tonka Bay, MN, Hopkins High School) scored the night's only goal for the Blazers, an unassisted power play goal at 10:50 in the second period. The goal was Pollock's first of the season.

First-year goalie Kaitlyn Rolando (Lake Elmo, MN, Tartan High School) started in net for the Blazers totaling 31 saves behind the crease.

Saint Benedict outshot Hamline 35-34.

The Blazers are on the road next weekend when they travel to Winona, Minnesota to play conference foe Saint Mary's. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 pm and 2 pm respectively.
