The CSB softball team was unable to come up with enough offense as they dropped a pair of close games Tuesday morning at the Rebel Spring Games. The College of Saint Benedict (1-5 overall, 0-0 MIAC) fell to Eastern University by a score of 4-3 and Heidelberg College 3-1.
Against Eastern, CSB was led offensively by sophomore infielder Kristen Herges (Rochester, MN, John Marshall) and senior Genna Strauss (Red Wing, MN, Red Wing). Herges went 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Strauss batted 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Abby Richardson (Storm Lake, IA, St. Mary's) added a 1-for-3 performance at the plate with two runs scored.
In Game 2, the Blazers were led by senior outfielder Jillian Rigg (Billings, MT, Central Catholic), who went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
CSB has the day off on Wednesday but will return to action on Thursday with games against Muskigum at 1 pm and Bluffton University at 5 pm. The Blazers will play a total of 12 games at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.
