ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – In its last match of the season Saturday, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team came through with a MIAC win over Hamline University.
First year Lauren Clark did her part in CSB’s win as she won both her singles match and doubles match on Saturday to help CSB beat Hamline 7-2. For her play Saturday – including a tiebreaker win in singles play – Clark has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.
In her doubles match, Clark paired up with her first-year teammate Gabbie Noack to win 8-4 at No. 3 doubles. Clark is tied for the team lead with nine doubles wins this season.
In her singles match, Clark won in a tiebreaker. At No. 4 singles she lost the first set 2-6, won the next set 7-5 and then won the tiebreaker 10-5.
Saturday’s win pushed the team’s record to 10-13 overall, which marks the most wins in a season since 2012-13 when it went 11-8. Clark is one of six first years on a roster that includes one junior, one sophomore and no seniors, so CSB looks to come out strong to start the 2017-18 season in the fall.
