College of Saint Benedict Athletics

Junior Megan Sundstrom is having quite a year for the College of Saint Benedict track and field team.
 
Friday at St. Olaf, she won two individual events in addition to being part of a winning relay team. After her big performance, Sundstrom is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week – her third honor of the season.
 
Sundstrom had an outstanding performance on Friday as she won the 400 hurdles in 64.26 seconds, not quite beating her current personal best and CSB record of 62.56 seconds. She is currently ranked first in the MIAC and 11^th in Division III in this event.
 
Sundstrom also won the triple jump with a mark of 11.26 meters, which is a new personal best and moved her up to fourth in CSB history. Her mark also has her ranked fourth in the MIAC and 43^rd in Division III.
 
Finally, Sundstrom joined in on winning the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:00.49. She ran the last leg of the relay and chased down a St. Olaf and St. Thomas runner to come from behind and win. The relay’s time is currently second in the MIAC and 49^th in Division III.
 
To add on to Sundstrom’s successes, she is eighth in Division III for the heptathlon. In the MIAC she is ranked ninth in the 200-meter dash, third in the 100-hurdles, seventh in the long jump, and third in the heptathlon.
 
Sundstrom and her track and field teammates are back in action Saturday, April 29, when they head back to St. Paul for the Macalester Invite.
