The College of Saint Benedict softball team continued its historic start with three more wins last week. Junior pitcher Cassie Meyer picked up two of this wins, and for her work on the mound, she is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
 
In CSB’s first doubleheader of the week, Meyer pitched three innings and only gave up one run with three strikeouts to help CSB come from behind to beat Augsburg 3-2 in eight innings. That win pushed CSB’s winning streak to 10 games and kept the team undefeated in the MIAC.
 
Thursday against St. Olaf, Meyer gave up five hits and just one unearned run to help CSB beat the Oles 9-1 in six innings, and she struck out four batters. That win came after an 8-4 loss to St. Olaf – the team’s first MIAC loss of the year – and improved the team’s record to 22-6 overall and 11-1 in the conference.
 
To top it off, Meyer is 5-2 in 12 appearances this season and has 17 strikeouts. The CSB softball team plays again Wednesday, April 19, when it travels to St. Paul for a doubleheader against Hamline, which is second in the MIAC at 9-3.
