This past weekend at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center, the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team competed at the 2017 MIAC Championships. Sophomore Ashley Groebner had several outstanding performances at the event and qualified top eight in two of her events, and top 16 in her third, making her this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.

Starting off her weekend with the 200 individual medley, Groebner finished 13
th overall with a time of 2:15.52, which is almost six seconds faster than her previous personal best. She finished 23
rd in this event last year. Groebner was also part of the 400 medley relay team that took fifth with a time of 4:04.15, the seventh-fastest time in CSB history.

Next, Groebner competed in the 100 breaststroke where she placed sixth overall with a personal best time of 1:07.2, almost a second faster than her previous time. Her 100 breaststroke is now the third-fastest time in CSB history. She was eighth in this event last year. Groebner was also part of the 200 medley relay team that took fifth in 1:49.34, making this the fourth-best time in CSB history.

Finally, Groebner competed in the 200 breaststroke, finished seventh overall and beat her personal best by almost three seconds with a time of 2:27.67. This time is the sixth-fastest time in CSB history, and a personal improvement as Groebner was 11
th in this event last year.

The weekend’s conference meet wraps up the 2016-17 season for Groebner and her teammates. After two top-eight finishes this weekend, Groebner has three top-eight finishes in her two-year CSB swimming and diving career.
