ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Emilie Antony did her part to help the College of Saint Benedict softball team end its 2016 season on a high note last week.
The first year from Forest Lake went 7-for-10 in CSB’s last four games to help the Blazers go 3-1 to finish the year, including a three-run homer and a two-run double to help CSB secure wins against Carleton and No. 15 St. Kate’s. For her big week, Antony has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.
After losing a pair of games to No. 13 St. Thomas to start the week, Antony and the Blazers bounced back with a sweep of Carleton and a split with No. 15 St. Kate’s. Antony doubled and then scored to help the Blazers beat the Knights 4-3 in the first game, and she went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and an RBI single to help CSB complete the sweep with a 10-2, six-inning win in game two. She finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
Antony added an RBI and a double to her weekly total in CSB’s 6-5 loss to St. Kate’s Saturday, but she went 3-for-4 with a two-run single to help the Blazers end the season with a 7-3 win over the Wildcats. Antony also had a perfect fielding percentage from left field in CSB’s six games last week.
Antony finished the week batting .438 with seven hits – including a homer and a double – and seven RBIs. She wrapped up her first year with the team fourth in total hits (31) and RBIs (17).
Saint Benedict finished 2016 22-18 overall, marking the fourth straight year the Blazers have won 20 or more games.
