ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Another week, another record for Kiley Green.
The senior distance runner on the College of Saint Benedict track and field team set another school record – her third of the season – shattered her personal best and vaulted into the top 20 in Division III Friday afternoon. For her big week, Green has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.
Green’s latest record – her second this outdoor season – came in the first event of the Manitou Classic Friday afternoon at St. Olaf in Northfield. The Draper, Utah, native finished the 10,000-meter run in 37:04.75 – nearly 54 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
That time was good for first place, and beat the previous CSB record by 19 seconds. The previous record 37:20.01 was set in 2008 by Margot Branigan at the MIAC Championships. Green’s time also beat her own personal best by 35 seconds.
After her big day at St. Olaf, Green has the best time in the MIAC in the 10K and is currently sitting in 20
th in Division III.
Green also holds the school outdoor record in the 5,000-meter run and the indoor record in the 3,000-meter run. She is in the top 10 in school history in three other events.
Green and the Blazers have to meets left on their spring schedule to prepare for the MIAC Outdoor Championships. CSB is in St. Paul Saturday, April 30, for the Macalester Invite, and travels back to St. Paul Wednesday, May 4, for the Tommie Twilight. CSB hosts the conference championships with SJU May 13-14 at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
