ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Anna Wagner made the most of the College of Saint Benedict track and field team’s final home meet of the year Saturday afternoon.
Wagner recorded three top-seven finishes in the field events for the Blazers to help the team win its home quadrangular. She also recorded two all-time bests and one season-best throughout the day. For her big weekend, Wagner has been named the Blazer Athlete of the Week.
Wagner’s biggest performance of the day came in the triple jump. The junior from Rochester, Minn., won the event with a mark of 10.87 meters. That mark, which beat out the second-place finisher by nearly one-half of a meter, is currently third in the MIAC and fifth in CSB outdoor history. It is also Wagner’s all-time personal best mark in the event.
Wagner was previously eighth in school history in the triple jump with a mark of 10.73 meters. Wagner earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors at the 2014 outdoor conference championships in the triple jump.
That wasn’t the extent of Wagner’s performance Saturday, however. She also took third in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters, which is a season best and tied for 10
th in the MIAC. Wagner wrapped up the day with a seventh-place finish in the javelin throw. Her mark of 26.72 meters is another all-time personal best. It is also 27
th in the conference.
Wagner earned All-MIAC honors in the triple jump after taking second at the conference indoor championships in March. She is fourth in school history with a 10.86 mark in the indoor triple jump. She also has the eighth-best mark in indoor school history in the high jump.
The Blazers are back in action Friday, April 17, when they travel to Northfield, Minn., for the Manitou Classic. That is one of just three meets for CSB heading into the conference outdoor championships, which are May 8-9 in St. Paul, Minn.
